The BEatles
The Beatles were formed in 1960 in Liverpool, England. In
February of 1964, The Beatles made their first appearance in America, performing
on the Ed Sullivan Show for a television audience of 73 million viewers. In the
years to follow, The Beatles produced some of the most influential albums in the
history of rock n' roll music. Far after their break up in 1970, their music
continues to impact the rock and roll genre. The band was comprised of John
Lennon, playing rhythm guitar, George Harrison playing lead guitar, Paul
McCartney playing bass, and Ringo Starr playing drums.(41) Although the majority of
the band's music was written and sung by Lennon and McCartney, all of the band
members participated in this. Classic examples of this are Ringo's Yellow Submarine and George's Here Comes the Sun.
